Kyna Backwaters is a boutique luxury resort nestled in Kainakary — a quiet island village 12km from Alleppey town, where Vembanad Lake meets a network of narrow canals, paddy fields and coconut groves. This is not the crowded Alleppey most visitors see. This is the backwaters as they were meant to be experienced — unhurried, intimate and genuinely Kerala.

Our Story
Kyna was built on a simple belief — that the best luxury is not marble floors or infinity amenities, but waking up to still water, open skies and a place that feels nothing like your everyday life.
Our founders Dr. Karthik K Nandan and Dr. Gayathri S chose Kainakary specifically because it remains one of Kerala's last genuinely peaceful backwater destinations. Away from the houseboat crowds of central Alleppey, Kainakary offers something increasingly rare — silence, space and an unobstructed view of Vembanad Lake.
Everything at Kyna — the food, the activities, the experiences — is designed around this philosophy. Local ingredients, local guides, local stories. Nothing manufactured, nothing imported for the sake of it.
